People For People’s Farmers Market Senior Food Vouchers Distribution

Did you know that the People for People Nutrition Program provides vouchers to seniors for use at local Farmers Markets? The voucher distribution program, now in its 11th year, is offered through their Nutrition Food Program, which includes the following:

  • Meals on Wheels for home delivered meals
  • Dining Rooms which offer congregate meal sites throughout the county
  • Meals for Pets for homebound seniors receiving Meals on Wheels
  • Frozen Meal pickup when delivery to a senior is not an option

Farmers Market vouchers are also delivered to seniors with the home delivered meals.

Since the first of June, People for People staff and volunteers have already distributed 1,400 vouchers! The pictures are from a recent voucher distribution day at the Harman Center. In addition to Harman Center, other distribution sites include Selah Civic Center, Henry Beauchamp Community Center, Yakima Salvation Army Senior Center, Sunnyside, Granger, and Grandview Senior Centers, and the Meals on Wheels Main office in Union Gap.

A huge thank you goes out to People for People, and all volunteers and donors, for making this invaluable program available for the most vulnerable in our community.
