![]() A NEW TAX CREDIT FOR WASHINGTON WORKERS The Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) is a new statewide tax credit for Washington residents with low to moderate incomes. This is a credit of up to $1,200 based on retail sales or use tax for eligible individuals or families. Applications opened February 1, 2023; applications are accepted online or by mail. Applicants file for this credit with their tax return, but the credit comes from the State of Washington, Department of Revenue. Refunds range from $300 to $1,200 depending on the number of qualifying children in the household. These amounts are then adjusted based on income thresholds, like the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program. The minimum credit amount is $50, regardless of number of qualifying children. Individuals without children must be between the ages of 25 and 65; if you have children there is no age restriction.
